Financial Accountant

The Financial Accountant manages the accounts payable control and processing as well as participates in the monthly close process.  The successful candidate will initiate analyses designed to improve operating performance and will effectively and persuasively communicate analyses and recommendations to all levels of management. This role requires significant accuracy and attention to detail as well as creative problem solving abilities. This position requires finance/accounting skills as well as the ability to work well with other departmental teams.


  • Complete monthly close procedures in a timely and accurate manner including preparation of monthly accruals, reconciliation of balance sheet accounts and supporting schedules
  • Accounts Payable processing – create new vendors, vendor credit checks, analysis and payment processing
  • Accounts Payable aging analysis and supplier statement reconciliations
  • Purchase Order and invoice processing and guidance to the business
  • Create new customers, customer credit checks, and conduct annual credit review of customers
  • Daily Accounts Receivable reconciliations, aging analysis, credit control and collections
  • Perform day to day accounting activities and identify and implement more efficient and automated processes and procedures
  • T&E analysis and monitoring of expense submissions in Concur
  • SG&A journal entries and analysis; accruals of expenses; work along with FP&A counterpart for accurate and timely journal entries
  • Maintain fixed asset amortization and depreciation schedule
  • Tax and Audit assistance including annual 1099 tax reporting, state and federal audit requests, internal audit requests
  • Ad hoc projects and assignments as needed


  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting
  • 3+ years’ experience
  • Public/Private accounting background
  • Familiarity with SAP, Cognos, and Concur Expense
  • Understanding of US GAAP, internal controls, and financial reporting
  • Proficient in Excel, including complex formulas, macros, and pivot tables in order to manipulate large amounts of data
  • Strong attention to detail, ability to organize, prioritize, and multi-task responsibilities both individually and for the team
  • Exceptional communication skills, organization techniques and attention to detail
  • Positive, cooperative attitude; ability to work with multiple teams simultaneously-both internal and external-in a dynamic fast-paced environment
  • Proactive individual looking to continuously take on additional responsibility and improve processes and procedures
  • Ability to work under pressure of tight deadlines
  • Independent self-starter, excellent communication skills
  • Experience in retail or beauty industries; Affinity for beauty and retail
